The smooth surface of the heat conducting films ensures that possible air pockets can easily bridge the heat transfer between the component and the heat sink. Due to the nature of the material, microscopically small irregularities in the contact surfaces can be evened out, which leads to an improvement in the heat contact surface and therefore to more efficient heat dissipation.
