- X Capacitors (X1, X2): Used primarily for interference suppression between live conductors (phase and neutral). Designed to reduce impulse spikes and transient overvoltages.
- X1 Capacitors: Suitable for applications with higher transient voltage spikes (up to 760 Vac).
- X2 Capacitors: Most commonly used for general-purpose applications (up to 400 Vac).
- Y Capacitors (Y1, Y2): Used for suppression between a live conductor and chassis or ground. These components protect against electric shock in fault conditions and must meet high safety standards.
- Y1 Capacitors: Offer higher insulation resistance (up to 500 Vac).
- Y2 Capacitors: More compact for applications with lower insulation requirements (up to 300 Vac).
