Special AC motor capacitors are used to support and improve the operation of AC motors. They optimise the torque and performance of the motor. There are two main types of AC motor capacitors:
Starting capacitors (starting capacitor): They are used to crank the motor when starting. They provide a temporary power boost that allows the motor to start with sufficient torque.
Running capacitors (running capacitor): These capacitors are active during normal operation of the motor and support the performance and efficiency of the motor.
