The field of optoelectronics deals with the application of optical technologies in electronic systems. The term is made up of the words “optics” (light) and “electronics” (electronics) and refers to the interaction between light and electrons in materials and components. The main purpose is to generate, manipulate and transmit electronic signals using light sources and light detectors.
