SMD polymer hybrid capacitors for compact circuits  

 

SMD polymer hybrid capacitors are designed for surface mounting on a PCB. Due to the limited load capacity of SMD soldering points, these capacitors are limited in their size and weight and, consequently, also in terms of capacity.

The conductor card is fitted with components on one side only since SMD capacitors are welded onto the circuit card without any holes. This allows high packing densities while the space required on the conductor card is reduced, the conductor card can be smaller and costs decrease.

Properties

  • Significantly higher dielectric strength than pure polymer cap
  • Effects of the liquid electrolyte on the ESR and the temperature behavior are relatively low
  • By using appropriate organic electrolytes and by a seal also a long live without premature dehydration can be achieved
  • Failure mode: open mode
