A rectifier is an electronic component or circuit that converts AC to DC. This process is fundamental to the operation of nearly all electronic devices requiring a stable DC supply. Key types include:
- Rectifier Diodes: The most basic component. These allow current to flow in only one direction and are often used in simple rectifier circuits or as freewheeling diodes. Key parameters include reverse voltage and forward current.
- Rectifier Modules: These integrate multiple diodes—and often thyristors (SCRs)—into a single housing, simplifying design and assembly in high-power systems. Available in various configurations.
- Bridge Rectifiers: A specific diode arrangement enabling full-wave rectification. Available as compact components for single-phase and three-phase systems. Models like MDS50, MDS75, MDS100, MDS150, and MDS200 represent typical power classes.
